  • Drumming session

I went to a workshop and then booked Anita and Rae for a session with our children. All the children couldn't resist banging on the drums. Our drums have had a good workout since your visit. Thank you for instructing the children in the different rhythms on the drums

Thank you to the Majuba Beats team who have been faciitating professional development workshops to Auckland Kindergarten Association teachers.

Teachers involved in the workshops comment on the learning they receive and the fun they have, plus the ideas they gain to take back to their kindergarten to use with children.

  • An Amazing Experience

Thanks so much for an amazing drumming experience. We all enjoyed having you and Anita share your passion with us. Even the shy children couldn't resist in the end, as I saw them playing the drums as you were packing up. No doubt we will see you again soon.

We all loved your participtation in our new event, with both Majuba beats and Tahini Jam. We thank you most sincerely!

Also, at the recent Colwill School Multicultural Community event, your group of drummers were a delight to see and hear, their little faces shone with pride and concentration in front of a very varied appreciative audience. Well done to you all.

We recently had our school production and asked Majuba Beats to come in and train up a group of students to do a drum routine at the beginning and end of the performance. We were blown away at what Rae got out of our students in such a short space of time. The result was an amazing performance from each child and an incredible unison among the group. They learned several routines and played with confidence. It was fantastic to see their confidence levels rise over the course of their training. Rae was patient and organised, and the students thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I cannot recommend Majuba Beats highly enough!

It was great to be the host kindergarten for your workshop. We enjoyed learning rhythms. In the large group it sounds great! Now we have some confidence to use drums with our children and have already practiced together and used drums with story telling. Thanks again, Sonia and Jenny.

  • Drumming with Kindergarten Children

Rae and Anita visited our kindergarten and took an amazing session with our 40 children. After some simple 'braingym' exercises to help them focus, the children were divided into two group of twenty. Each group had a good thirty minutes which included seeing and listening to different drums, followed by a rhythm and beat session. Every child had their own drum and the opportunity to lead the group with a drumming pattern they created themselves. The children were totally engaged and have subsequently demonstrated their learning in their use of our kindergarten drums. We will book Majuba beats again.

It was wonderful to have Rae and Anita at a centre I was working in again!... especially as this was a road trip for them!!
They are both very friendly, totally organsied and professional, with an understanding and awareness of young children. Our children absolutley enjoyed the session, and as staff we have some new ideas to use also.
Highly recommended. Bronwyn. 10 July 2013

It was great to be able to experience what Majuba Beats is about and come to our office and share this with our families on our program.

It was a unique experience that our families enjoyed.

    Thank you for sharing.

Majuba Beats was a well-organised, interactive experience which engaged each child. It was great to see the children 'taking a risk' by trying something unfamiliar and then being able to feel a sense of achievement and a step-up in confidence. Rae and Anita had a good understanding of where the children's learning interest was and were able to scaffold from this point, extending the hands-on learning experience for all.
Children's comments: "My heart was happy", I liked banging loud", "I liked the big drums", "I liked the Zzzzip" (Flying Saucer Song).
    Thank you for the experience.

We had such a fun time with Majuba Beats recently. When Rae started playing the drum, it brought plenty of attention; the children wanting to explore with the drums. Since your visit the children regularly drum out their names to a rhythm and they are so confident with the drums we have purchased. Drumming is now a regular part of our play at Playcentre. I have been so impressed at how much they have remembered. Thank you Rae & Anita. You are amazing to deal with. Efficient! Well organised! So approachable! We can't wait to organise another session with you.

  • Rae and Anita visited us this week and lead a great session with the children. Rae called them with the drum and it instantly attracted them, they did some exercises and marched around to the beat. Brain gym followed before splitting into two groups who got to sit on the drums and play them. Rae lead them through different sounds and creating different animals which they loved. The whole session was pitched perfectly at the children's level and they were engaged and delighted at the opportunity to play the different drums. Thanks Rae and Anita.

Our centre is lucky to be near a large, tree-filled park so our Majuba Beats workshop was in the form of a walking excursion to meet with Rae and Anita there. Drumming under the shade of pohutukawas added a beautiful new dimension to the session....it was so primal hearing and feeling the beat with a backdrop of cicadas and birds! Our children are aged only 2 and a half to 3 and a half, but they were engaged fully with the rhythms, under the skilled guidance of Rae and Anita.
We are a Reggio Emilia inspired centre and our current investigation is "How does music make us feel?" The workshop fitted perfectly into the theme and created lots of discussion amongst the children and adults.
Rae and Anita, we LOVED your session and are all still buzzing!

  • Awesome Morning

Thanks Rae & Anita for an awesome morning of drumming! We all had a great time learning about the different drums, practicing keeping to the beat and trying some different rhythms. It also reminded us to use Brain Gym more regularly at huihuinga. Thanks for your amazing energy and enthusiasm!
